02 / Sessions & Context

Context engineering

Deciding deliberately what the model sees for each task: which documents, which history, which tools, and what to leave out. The grown-up version of prompt writing.

How you’ll hear it

“The prompt is perfect and the results are still poor.”

“Then it is a context problem, not a prompt problem.”

Avoid

Polishing the wording while the model is missing the information it needs.

The longer version

Context engineering is the practice of assembling the right information for each request, and excluding what does not help. As agents take on longer tasks, what the model sees matters far more than how the question is phrased.
