06 / Memory & Steering
Memory system
Any attempt to make an agent remember across sessions, by writing things down and loading them back at the start. Never built in. Always designed, and always a judgement about what deserves to persist.
How you’ll hear it
“Can it remember client preferences?”
“We can design that. What should it keep, and for how long?”
Avoid
Switching memory on without deciding what should be remembered.
The longer version
A memory system saves information and reloads it in later sessions. Every memory is a design decision with consequences for accuracy, privacy and consent. Decide what deserves to persist, and make it visible and correctable.
