04 / How It Goes Wrong
Attention degradation
The practical consequence: the longer a session runs, the more thinly attention spreads, and the more the agent loses the thread. Everything important quietly becomes less important.
How you’ll hear it
“It forgot the rule we set at the start.”
“Long session. Early instructions lose weight over time.”
Avoid
Setting rules once at the start of a long session and assuming they hold.
The longer version
As a session grows, early material competes with more and more that came later, and the agent gradually loses the thread. Restating key constraints, or starting fresh from a summary, keeps quality up.
