05 / Handoffs
Secondary source
Somebody’s account of the thing: a summary, a briefing, a compaction. Cheap, convenient, lossy by construction. Always know which of the two you are working from.
How you’ll hear it
“The briefing says the client agreed.”
“The briefing is a summary. Did they agree in the transcript?”
Avoid
Forgetting which of your inputs are summaries.
The longer version
A secondary source is an account of the original: a summary, a briefing, an AI digest. Convenient and lossy by nature, and summaries of summaries drift further each time.
