01 / The Model
AGI
Artificial general intelligence. A hypothetical AI that could match people across almost any intellectual task. Much discussed, loosely defined, and not something you can buy.
How you’ll hear it
“Should our strategy wait for AGI?”
“No. Plan around what today’s systems reliably do.”
Avoid
Making business decisions based on predictions about AGI.
The longer version
AGI has no agreed definition or test, and forecasts of its arrival vary wildly. It is worth understanding because it shapes public debate and regulation. It is a poor basis for planning: strategy should rest on capabilities you can measure today.
